Shivanya – Bin Pankh Ki Pari

Shivanya performs under the alias of Bin Pankh Ki Pari ("an angel without wings" in Hindi/Urdu). She is a queer South Asian woman who loves to dance to a range of Desi music, incorporating multiple languages into her routine. This is to provide a sense of love, support and cohesiveness for the queer South Asian community. Her dance style is an amalgamation of improvisation, contemporary and classical, despite never undertaking any professional training. "We don't have to separate our queer identity from our heritage; our unique combinations make us beautiful! This is the importance of intersectionality. I do this for those who need a voice and to remind them to not lose hope. Jitange hosle naal!”
